Bac Ninh promotes production linkages to increase agricultural product value
BAC NINH - Bac Ninh is not only an industrial hub but also a key region for developing commercial agriculture, especially fruit and vegetables. By strengthening cooperation between farmers, cooperatives, and processing enterprises, many flagship products have expanded their reach and affirmed the reputation of Vietnamese agricultural produce. To further boost value, the province is focusing on promoting production in association with processing.
Many agricultural products “go global”
VIFOCO Import-Export Joint Stock Company in Tien Phong ward is one of Bac Ninh’s leading processors, packers, and exporters of agricultural products, including lychee.

Nguyen Xuan Duc, Deputy Director of VIFOCO, shared that in 2024, the company committed to purchasing early lychees from Phuc Hoa at stable prices of 30,000–35,000 VND (1.14-1.33 USD) per kg, with planned volume increases.
In 2025, VIFOCO successfully shipped 20 tonnes of main-season Luc Ngan lychees to the US by sea for the first time. Currently, Bac Ninh lychee through VIFOCO has reached markets in Europe, the US, and the Middle East, receiving positive feedback from international distributors.
This year, Bac Ninh’s total lychee output reached a record 205,000 tonnes. Domestic consumption accounted for 62%, while exports hit a record 78,200 tonnes, generating over 6.2 trillion VND (235.1 million USD) in revenue from lychee and related services.
Alongside lychee, Luc Son Agricultural Services Cooperative successfully exported longan to Australia for the first time this year. The cooperative sells longan to partner enterprises at stable prices of 25,000 VND per kg, which are then processed and packaged for export.
Other companies like Ameii Vietnam, Toan Cau, Rong Do, and G.O.C have supported farmers with purchasing, packaging, irradiation, and exporting, enabling smooth sales and significantly higher value compared to domestic markets.
Currently, provincial authorities are working with the Crop Production and Plant Protection Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to establish management records for cultivation areas of fruits like custard apple, guava, apple, dragon fruit, and green banana.
They are also negotiating with partners to expand export markets for the province’s agricultural products.
Welcoming investors
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Bac Ninh has over 184,000 hectares of agricultural land, including about 53,900 hectares of fruit trees valued at more than 7.4 trillion VND annually.
Vegetable cultivation covers nearly 31,000 hectares, producing around 626,000 tonnes per year, worth approximately 3.6 billion VND. The province maintains 404 planting area codes, including 94 for domestic markets, 310 for exports, and 43 for fresh fruit packaging facilities.
Thanks to favourable policies, several processing enterprises have acted as bridges to bring the province’s fruits to markets such as China, the U.S., Japan, Australia, the EU, and the Middle East. However, despite positive results, authorities and businesses noted that the agricultural production value still falls short of its potential.
By 2026, Bac Ninh plans to increase lychee export ratio to 45% of total production (an 8% rise from 2025). China will account for around 40%, while high-end markets such as the EU, the US, Australia, and Japan will cover 5%. The province also aims to expand processed vegetable markets.
Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Van Phuong said the department is working with authorities to guide investors in building agricultural processing infrastructure at logistics centres, industrial parks, and clusters.
They especially encourage constructing processing facilities near main fruit and vegetable growing areas, including mountainous communes.
To overcome existing challenges, the province promotes closer cooperation among processing and exporting enterprises through linked production, processing, irradiation, and export procedures conducted within the province.
