At around 11pm on August 23, while exercising around the hospital campus, patient Hoang Van Sa (born in 1979) and his relative Vi Thi Thuong (born in 1981) in Phong Van commune (Luc Ngan district) saw a brown wallet left on a stone bench.

After checking, Sa and Thuong found that inside the wallet there are more than 10 million VND, a silver chain and some papers such as driver's license, identity card, and motorbike insurance card.

On the morning of August 24, when the staff and doctors of the General Surgery Department started a new shift, Sa promptly reported the case and asked them to help find the owner. It is known that Sa is being treated for early stage esophageal cancer at the hospital.

Through verification, the hospital carried out procedures to hand over the assets to the wallet owner - patient Tran Xuan Thuy (born in 1959) in Lien Son commune, Tan Yen district (Bac Giang), who is undergoing colon cancer treatment.

Thuy said: "That evening, I went to the stone bench to relax. The wallet in my pant pocket fell out at what time I did not know. The next morning, when I intended to take money to buy porridge, I found that I had dropped my wallet. I thank Sa very much for returning me the wallet in a difficult time due to illness. I was very touched by his action".

Sa shared: “Although my family's circumstance is difficult and I myself have a serious illness, but no greed arises. I thought that perhaps this money the owner also had to borrow everywhere to treat his disease like me."

In the morning, head of the General Surgery Department Chu Manh Long and head of the Social Work Group Tran Thi Thu Huong reported the case to the hospital's leaders and joined concerned people to carry out procedures to return the money and papers to patient Tran Xuan Thuy.

Previously, in March 2021, nurse Nguyen Thi Thom (born in 1984) of the General Surgery Department also picked up a bag containing five pieces of SJ 9999 gold, a mobile phone and cash. Then the assets were returned to the owner.
