Carbon credit helps promote green production in Bac Ninh

Updated: 13:10, 17/07/2026

BAC NINH- Carbon credit will be no longer merely a story of environmental issues, but it will become a matter of business competitiveness in coming time. Bac Ninh is stepping up to promote green production towards sustainable development.

Businesses’ proactive involvement

The domestic carbon trading floor officially came into operation since June 29, marking a new progress in the cause of building carbon market in Vietnam, targeting the goal of “net zero” emission by 2050.

Bac Giang LGG Garment Corporation (in Kep commune) finishes assembling the rooftop solar power system covering nearly 7,000 square metres.

In Bac Ninh, a locality with strong industrial growth and a high concentration of major foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises, many companies are implementing net zero strategies and requiring their suppliers to disclose greenhouse gas emissions data, reduce emissions and comply with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards.

Several enterprises have proactively adopted green production practices by developing solar power projects, saving energy, enhancing waste treatment, undertaking afforestation initiatives and strengthening low-emission agricultural production.

Pearl Global Vietnam Company Limited (in Bac Giang ward) is among typical enterprises. It is an Indian investor, supplying products for big fashion brands worldwide.

Pursuing the emission reduction strategy, this company uses green energy from rooftop solar power to save energy and reduce green-house gas emission.

Bac Giang BBG Garment Corporation (in Bac Giang ward) is constructing a new 30,000-metre square factory to meet criteria for green certification.

Accordingly, the company will plant a lot of trees within the building and surrounding areas as well as set up solar power system. Once completed, it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet partners’ requirements for exports of goods.

Bac Giang LGG Garment Corporation (in Kep commune) has finished assembling the rooftop solar power system covering nearly 7,000 square metres, expected to save around 1.6 million kWh each year.

Piloting low-carbon model

According to Nguyen Cuong, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial Business Association, carbon credit will be no longer merely an environmental protection instrument, it is becoming a critical factor in determining the competitiveness of businesses.

The Association will organise a seminar on carbon market to invite experts, international organisations and successful enterprises to share experiences about carbon credit.

The Association will also compile a handbook guiding businesses to develop carbon credit projects.

Besides, they recommended the provincial People’s Committee to issue an action plan to develop carbon market, establish provincial greenhouse-gas emission data, pilot the “low-carbon industrial park” model and develop a programme to support enterprises in participating in the carbon market for the 2026–2030 period.

These efforts will help businesses comply with domestic regulations and enhance their competitiveness in global supply chains.

As enterprises participate in the carbon market, Bac Ninh is well positioned to generate carbon credits thanks to its enormous areas of both planted and natural forests.

Truong Duc Dang, Vice Director of the provincial Forest Protection Sub-Department said this agency is responsible for receiving, appraising, and submitting applications for approval of registration, amendment or cancellation of registrations for forest carbon projects in accordance with national standards.

It also issues forest carbon credits for projects approved by the provincial People's Committee.
