Central Highlands' largest fruit & veg processing centre inaugurated

The largest fruit and vegetable processing centre in the Central Highlands, which was built by the Dong Giao Foodstuff Export JSC, was put into operation in Gia Lai Province on September 9.

The centre, named Doveco Gia Lai, covers a total area of 6 hectares and was designed with a total capacity of 52,000 tonnes of products per year.

It is comprised of three automated production lines using modern technology from Japan, Italy and Sweden: one for manufacturing concentrated and natural fruit juices, another for frozen fruits and vegetables, and the last for canned fruits and vegetables.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh said that with the inauguration of the centre, the Dong Giao Foodstuff Export JSC would continue to accompany farmers in the Central Highland provinces in processing and consumption of agricultural products, particularly the fruits of the region’s strengths.

With its completion, the Deveco Gia Lai centre will help Gia Lai province stabilise an area of 10,000 hectares of fruit trees in 2020 as well as link farmers with businesses, contributing to improving the position of agricultural products of the Central Highland region.

A hi-tech pork slaughterhouse meeting international standards, run by Bien Dong DHS, was inaugurated in Hai Nam commune, Hai Hau district, the northern province of Nam Dinh on November 4. It is one of the biggest of its kinds in the north.
