Doctors of poor people
While checking the blood pressure, heart and lung for Nguyen Van Vinh (born in 1958) in Vinh Quang village, Yen My commune (Lang Giang district), doctor Hoang Van Mat at the General External Department, Medical Center of Lang Giang district, Chairman of the district Young Doctor Club encouraged and reminded the patient to follow proper diet and practice.

Apart from Vinh, other members in his family had their health carefully checked and consulted by the members of the district Young Doctor Association.
Mat said the young doctors and nurses selected to provide health examination to Vinh’s family and 21 other social beneficial households in Yen My commune are pioneer members with firm profession and skill.
After the big storm and tornado on the past May 25, many households in Ngoc Chau commune (Tan Yen district) were severely affected including the family of Tran Thi Tuoi and Giap Tat Dat in Tan Trung village.
The house’s wall were collapsed while the top roof was damaged. When collecting the utensils, Tuoi fell down and broke two fingers. The delegates of young doctors in the district Young Doctor Club visited their houses to encourage them as well as check Tuoi injury after surgery and consult Dat about the diet to control the blood pressure.
According to doctor Phung Van Cuong, Chairman of the Young Doctor Association in Tan Yen district, the Club has changed the operation method from concentration to direct health examination to the poor and social beneficial families at home due to the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic since early 2020.
Also since early 2020, the doctors and nurses at the Young Doctor Club in Yen The district directly visited the poor families, disable persons, social beneficial families and patients who cannot move.
The Club made a list and profiles of the poor, social beneficial households then coordinated with the officers and health workers at the Medical stations in the communes to monitor the health and provide health checkup in every 3 – 6 months.
Chairman of the Young Doctor Club in Bac Giang province Dang Van Hoa shared that “Doctors come to home” is a creative idea rising from the actual situation. Though the health workers must take more effort to visit each family to examine each patient, it is a practical and meaningful activity, especially to the single ones or critical cases with movement difficulties.

Via each volunteer journey, the young doctors have more chance to understand the actual case of the patient, then sympathize more and practice their profession and morality.

Via simple health examination such as blood pressure measure, the blood sugar, heart beat, the doctors can collect additional information like the disease history of the family, daily routine, current work property to give recommendation for the family members to adjust toward healthier lifestyle.
