In the early Nguyen dynasty, Yen The was located at Phu Lang Giang with two regions of upper and lower Yen The. After the French colonists’ invasion, they founded plantations to exploit the colony and destroy the uprising movement from Yen The’s farmers.

The French army attacked Yen The after conquering Bac Ninh city. In December 1885, they built Tinh Dao post in Phu Nha Nam hill. Then Yen The station was set up in Tinh Dao city to directly control and suppress the Uprising movement of Yen The’s farmers. Additionally, the colonist colluded with the feudal landowners to squash and exploit the farmers, forcing them to live miserably.

Because the local farmers could no longer withstand the feudal colonist regime, they followed the leadership of the national hero De Tham to raise the uprising movement for nearly 30 years (1884 - 1913). Many big battles occurring in the villages and communes frightened the enemy.

Following the patriotism fighting tradition, dozens of strugglings against the feudal colonist broke out to facilitate the communication of the Party’s communist guidance. According to the Geological Book in Tan Yen district, the Personnel and Organisation Board in Bac Giang province decided to establish the Party Division in Dong Dieu with Ha Thi Que elected as the Secretary in September 1944.

On April 15, 1945, the National Salvation Army joined hand with Yen The militia to successfully barge in Yen The station in Nha Nam, helping develop and widely spread the community struggling movement. In the evening of April 16 and early morning of April 17, the local army conquered Phu Yen The to set up the communist government.

According to the analysis from the researchers on the local history, it was a strange and creative battle that occurred quickly, completely with most of the manpower conserved. Also, it was the first fighting to successfully take over the station and district across the nation.

As soon as the Lord-lieutenant Tuong Van Trang was arrested on July 15, 1945, he was impeached in front of the people then punished by death together with his officer. The action made the French army and the mercenary panic. On the other hand, the farmer army boosted up communication and propaganda to seize the remaining soldiers and collect all weapons.

The preparation was done thoroughly with close cooperation between the communist force and local militia. The victory of Doi Phu Yen The affirmed the military art talent, lesson learn and fighting experiences of the forefathers' thousands of years ago which took the weak to fight against the strong, the less to struggle the more with an appropriate strategy of “using the intelligence to conquer the people’s heart”.

The ancient Doi Phu Yen The is now recognized as a cultural-historical relic to educate the young generation about the tradition toward the origin. Following the ancestors’ tradition, the next generation has built up more and more beautiful and spacious hometown.

(BGO) – Yen The district in the northern province of Bac Giang has welcomed nearly 100,000 domestic arrivals for 7 months, mostly flocking to enjoy the short festivals of Yen The, Xuan Lung –  Nga waterfall in Xuan Luong commune instead of the long vacation.

Yen The farmers get rich from forest

(BGO) - The resolution of the Congress of the Party Organization of Yen The district (Bac Giang province) for the 2015-2020 tenure set the target of reaching 40 percent in forest coverage in the district by 2020. Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions, after more than two years, this target has been fulfilled, contributing to improving the quality and value of forests.

 

Yen The develops community based tourism

(BGO) – This year, the Bac Giang provincial Center of Information and Tourism Promotion has deployed a lot of programmes to support Thac Nga (Nga waterfall) Xuan Luong tourism site in Yen The district, realizing the Project of developing the local community based tourism for the period of 2014 – 2020.
