Dong Do village eco-tourism site recognised as cultural heritage space
BAC NINH - The Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association has granted a Cultural Heritage Space certificate to Dong Do village eco-tourism area, operated by Dong Do Engineering and Trading Co. Ltd. in Lam Thao commune of Bac Ninh province. The recognition highlights the investor’s efforts to blend cultural preservation with tourism development, helping promote the identity of rural Vietnam in contemporary life.
Covering more than 20,000 square metres, Dong Do Village recreates daily life in a traditional northern Vietnamese village, featuring ancient houses, brick courtyards, fish ponds, betel trellises, rows of areca palms, a traditional cake-making zone and spaces dedicated to Dong Ho folk paintings and Phu Lang ceramics.

The highlight of the Dong Do Village eco-tourism site is the 15-metre-tall Than Nong Tower, assembled from 1,012 stone mortars. |
The site also includes OCOP product stalls, Quan ho regional cuisine and a folk art stage.
Its centrepiece is the five-storey Than Nong Tower, standing 15 metres tall and constructed from 1,012 stone mortars forming an outer ring, with a reinforced concrete frame shaped like a giant grain of rice inside.
The structure was recognised with a Vietnam Record in 2023 and a World Record in 2024 as the “largest stone-mortar tower shaped like a rice grain”. At night, an artistic lighting system simulates the life cycle of a rice grain, shifting from green to gold, making the tower a distinctive visual landmark.
The site regularly hosts demonstrations and tastings of traditional cuisine, cultural exchanges with artisans and activities exploring folk culture. It attracts a growing number of visitors, including schools, enterprises and community groups that choose the venue for educational programmes and experiential activities for young people.
