Ecopark longan fair to promote Hung Yen’s specialty fruit

The fair saw the participation of 50 booths displaying fresh longans produced by cooperatives, farms
At the fair, a wide range of longan varieties was showcased with prices ranging from VND35,000-50,000 per kilogram.
In addition to fresh longans, booths at the fair also displayed dried longans and other specialties produced in Hung Yen province such as honey, lotus seeds, turmeric, guava and red-flesh dragon fruit.
According to Director of the Hung Yen Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Van Doanh, the province has selected a number of top-quality longan varieties for cultivation in recent years to support the development of geographical indications.
The province has also provided courses for farmers to instruct them in good agricultural practices to ensure the quality and safety of the fruits.
Director of the Hung Yen Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Van Tho stated that VietGAP-certified longans have been sold at major retailers in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other major cities in Vietnam.
Furthermore, Hung Yen is also exporting fresh and dried longans to China and is promoting the sale of the fruit in the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Australia.
