Host Bac Giang ranks second at National Youth Traditional Chess Championships

(BGO) – A ceremony was held on November 8 at the Bac Giang provincial Conventional Hall to close the National Youth Traditional Chess Championships 2020 by Vietnam Sports Administration, Vietnam Traditional Chess Federation and Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the province. 

After 7 days of competition (from November 2-8), the championships successfully closed with Ho Chi Minh city delegation in top position with 63 gold, 26 silver and 34 bronze medals and the host Bac Giang in second ranking with 13 gold, 15 silver and 21 bronze medals (exceeding the set target of 8 – 10 medals of all types). Hanoi delegation rank third with 9 gold, 23 silver and 36 bronze medals.

This year event drew more than 220 players from 11 delegations across the countries to vie for medals at 7 male and female age groups of U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U18 and U20 at 4 categories of rapid, blitz, standard and traditional chess.

Thanks to the thorough preparation of localities, many chess players introduced good match with fine moves.

The event helped the young players have more chance of competition to enhance their experience, develop the practising movement and detect young players across the country to join Vietnam national team to be ready for international tourneys in 2021.
