Information about 4 Bac Giang citizens working at Equatorial Guinea

(BGO) – According to the relatives, 3 out of 4 Bac Giang citizens working at Equatorial Guinea under a contract with CM Vietnam JSC tested positive to SARS-CoV-2 and put under treatment at the country.

Thanks to the facilitation from Vietnamese authorities, these guest workers are allowed by the main contractor to stop working and have their health checked regularly by the local medical facilities. Now, they are in stable condition.

Vietnamese citizens working at Equatorial Guinea have their health condition monitored.

As of July 9, CM Vietnam JSC informed about 74 more positive cases, making the total number of Vietnamese Covid-19 patients at the construction site up to 90 people while Lilama 10 and Tan Dai Loi Company recorded 23 cases. Thus, 112 out of 219 Vietnamese labours are infected with the virus.

These workers of three companies are working at Sendje hydropower plant in Littorial province under the contract among 3 companies with main contractor Duglas Alliance Ltd (England).

Previously, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) sent document to the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnam Embassy in Angola and Republic of Guinea as well as reported to the National Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control to facilitate the companies to bring the labours home as their expectation.

Also, MoLISA instructed the companies to work with main investors and contractors to suspend work at the construction sites, guide employees how to protect themselves from the disease, and put forth measures to ensure rights of their labourers.

The Prime Minister urged to consider direct flights to bring the Vietnamese workers home immediately while asking the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ambassadors and Vietnamese representative offices abroad to do their utmost in citizen protection.

Regarding citizen Nguyen Van Quy in Binh An hamlet, Chu Dien commune, Luc Nam district whose 4 relatives are working under contract at Republic of Guinea, Bac Giang province requested the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs and authorities to support and facilitate these cases to come back home early.
