In the morning, two athletes Nguyen Anh Tuan and Phung Manh Tu in shuttlecocking game excellently competed with the host Hanoi and gained a gold medal in men’s doubles with a score of 2-0 (20-20 and 21-18). It was the first time the shuttlecocking team of Bac Giang province has ever bagged a gold at a sports festival.

Later, chess player Doan Thi Van Anh also brought back a good news. At the final match of the standard chess’s singles category, she defeated Pham Thi Thu Hien (Quang Ninh province) and closed the tournament with 7.5 points that was enough for her to overpass other strong rivals to be the champion.

At the same event, chess player Vo Thi Kim Phung took a draw with Nguyen Thi Thanh An (Ho Chi Minh city team), thus earned a bronze medal.

Thanks to 2 more golds and 1 bronze, as of 17:30 on December 4, Bac Giang sports delegation secured the nineteenth ranking in the medal tally with a total of 6 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 5 bronze medals as well as second position in the medal table for mountainous provinces after Thai Nguyen delegation (6 golds, 3 silvers and 3 bronze).

8th National Sports Games kicks off in Hanoi

The 8th National Sports Games opened at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi on November 25.
