Nearly 36,000 tonnes of lychees exported to China

(BGO) – According to the Bac Giang provincial Department of Industry and Trade, on June 18, Luc Ngan lychee was sold at a higher price than the previous day; concretely 12 – 17,000 VND per kilogram (0.53 – 0.74 USD) (up 4,000 VND per kilogram) for the second class fruit, 25 – 28,000 VND per kilogram (1.09 – 1.23 USD) (up 3,000 VND per kilogram) for the first type of main crop lychee and 32-35,000 VND per kilogram (1.4 – 1.53 USD) (increasing 10,000 VND per kilogram) for Luc Ngan hybrid lychee.

Farmers in Luc Ngan district enjoy smooth lychee consumption with the high price.

As of June 18, the total quantity of harvested lychee reached 115,740 tonnes, 5,950 tonnes of which was solely sold by Luc Ngan district on the same day due to the smooth harvest and consumption.

To date, some 150 Chinese traders and 1,000 domestic businessmen have visited Bac Giang province to buy the fruits then deliver to the major markets of Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh city, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, China as well as export to other countries.

Luc Ngan lychees are packed in Styrofoam box before selling to the markets.

Thanks to the superior quality, Luc Ngan lychee has been promoted and sold by several supermarkets including over 300 tonnes consumed by Saigon Co.op mart and 3.6 tonnes by BigC supermarket. Especially, Hong Xuan Cooperative in Luc Ngan district has cooperated with some enterprises to export 3.7 tonnes of the fruit to the foreign markets of USA, Europe and Japan.

Also, the competent agencies have recorded some 35,860 tonnes of lychees exported to Chinese localities while the fruit carriages have been facilitated for a quick customs clearance in several border gates of Lang Son and Lao Cai provinces.
