Nearly VND12.4 trillion spent to support people affected by Covid-19

Nearly VND12.4 trillion has been disbursed from the Government’s VND62 trillion bailout package to support people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic nationwide.

According to the Departments of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs in 63 cities and provinces, the cash payments benefited more than 12.34 million people, including national contributors, social policy beneficiaries, poor and near-poor households.

National contributors and social policy beneficiaries in Hanoi’s Dong Da District receive an allowance from the Government’s VND62 trillion bailout package.

As of May 3, the seven cities and provinces of Lang Son, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Thua Thien - Hue, Ninh Thuan and Long An completed payment for the four groups of beneficiaries in the localities.

The Hanoi municipal authorities in particular have fundamentally completed the disbursement of VND500 billion to support 400,000 people as of May 5.

Meanwhile in Thai Nguyen Province, the support is estimated to benefit about 168,500 people with a total budget of over VND163.4 billion, announced Director of the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Quynh Huong yesterday.

The disbursement of the relief packages has also been accelerated in other localities, and the work is expected to be completed by May 15.

Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung has described the relief package as an unprecedented move of great significance amidst the Covid-19 outbreak.

He also stressed that measures have been put in place to ensure the transparency of the funding to ensure that the support went to the right people.
