New Zealand Embassy presents gifts to pandemic-hit female workers

(BGO) - The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), the Embassy of New Zealand in Vietnam, and the provincial Confederation of Labour jointly organized a ceremony to present gifts to female workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic on the afternoon of June 28.

Attending the event held at the provincial Confederation of Labour were representatives of the VGCL. New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam Tredene Dobson joined the ceremony from Hanoi.

Briefing on the pandemic situation in Bac Giang, a leader of the provincial Confederation of Labour said that the recent outbreak of Covid-19 has severely affected jobs and lives of workers in the province. As a representative who takes care of the lives of trade union members and workers, the provincial Confederation of Labour has made great efforts to mobilize resources to support and share difficulties with employees.

Ambassador Tredene Dobson expressed her pleasure that Vietnam in general and Bac Giang in particular have gradually controlled the Covid-19. However, the epidemic has caused great socio-economic damage to countries and localities. In particular, female workers are the hardest hit in terms of employment, income and life.

Representatives of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the provincial Confederation of Labour present gifts from the New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam to female workers in Bac Giang province affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In Bac Giang, the New Zealand Embassy gave 270 gifts, each worth 1 million VND (43.3 USD), to female workers who are members of the Trade Union of the provincial Industrial Parks, the Trade Union of the industry and trade sector and the Bac Giang City Labour Federation.
