VnExpress launched the "Run for Vaccine" virtual race, which started at 2 p.m. on June 2, with the message "Steps of Solidarity" to respond to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's call for donations to the country's Covid-19 vaccine fund.

The registration fee for the run is VN 100,000 per person. All ticket sales will be donated to the vaccine fund so that every runner can join hands with the Ministry of Health and the government in the pandemic fight.

The vaccine fund was established with the goal of receiving contributions from individuals and organizations in the purchase and production of Covid-19 vaccines. Vietnam needs to buy 150 million doses of vaccine for 75 million people or 70 percent of its population. The purchase is estimated to cost VND25,200 billion ($1 billion).

After registration, runners can start running from the next day. The race has four categories, 10 km, 21 km, 42 km, and 100 km, and each runner has 21 days to complete the distance they have registered. The registration will open until July 18.

With this virtual race, each runner can stride on different paths, at different times, but toward a common goal. After completing the challenge, the runner will receive a virtual certificate and a virtual medal to celebrate a meaningful journey.

Participants will need to install the Strava app on their phone and connect to VnExpress's V-Race platform to record their results. There is no limit on the number of runs as long as the runner complete the distance in a speed of three to 12 minutes per kilometer. This speed allows one to run and walk as needed, making it suitable even for beginners.
