Over 370 billion VND for upgrading Provincial Road 291

Updated: 16:43, 09/03/2021
(BGO) - Provincial Road 291 passing through Yen Dinh and Tuan Dao communes, and Tay Yen Tu township of Son Dong district, Bac Giang province has been degrading for many years. The road surface is narrow and even broken in many sections. To fix this problem, a project to renovate and upgrade Provincial Road 291 is underway.

Previously, the project was planned to be implemented from 2022 to 2025. However, due to urgent need for travelling, socio-economic development, and traffic safety, the provincial People's Council has decided to accelerate the project implementation, from 2021 to 2024.

Under the project, nearly 16.3 km of the road will be upgraded, with the starting point intersecting with National Road 31 in Yen Dinh commune and the ending point cutting Provincial Road 293 in Tay Yen Tu township.

The road will be renovated and widened to both sides to meet the grade-4 road standard with a 9m-wide foundation, a road surface of 8 m, a roadside of 1 m, and an asphalt concrete structure on the macadam foundation. In addition, the project will install traffic safety signs and build drainage systems and five bridges made of reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete, with design load HL93.

The project has a total investment of more than 370 billion VND (16 million USD), of which nearly 369 billion VND comes from the central budget and the rest is from the provincial budget. The investor is the provincial Transport and Agriculture Project Management Unit. Once completed, it will improve the operation capacity of the existing road, ensuring its consistence with nearby routes that have been invested; step by step complete the main transport network in the area; enhance connectivity between tourist sites and socio-economic centers inside and outside the province (especially the Tay Yen Tu spiritual tourism area); and meet the people’s needs of convenient and safe travel.
