The exchange was the sixth of its kind and was jointly held by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) in Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh Television.

The event offered audiences song and dance performances featuring the national border, sea and island areas with the participation of artists including Anh Bang, Phi Hung, Quy Binh, Duyen Huyen, Dong Trieu and others.

Addressing the event, President of the VFF in Ho Chi Minh City, To Thi Bich Chau, said that the city has coordinated with the armed forces and VFF branches to organise many activities to raise people's understanding about the situation in the border, sea and island areas and the national sovereignty over sea and islands.

Chau noted that since 2009 nearly VND200 billion (US$8.6 million) from the fund has helped the VFF in Ho Chi Minh City to provide care for soldiers, workers and people on Truong Sa Island, and islands in the northwest of Vietnam as well as border areas.

At the event, the audience had an opportunity to meet and listen to stories by Major Dinh Van Phong working on Nam Du Island in Kien Giang province and Captain Nguyen Van Giau working at the Song Trang border post in Long An province who were given support from the fund.
