Programme features experience of traditional Tet activities

A programme was held at Vietnam National Museum of Ethnics in Hanoi on January 17, offering a chance for children to take part in traditional activities during traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) Festival.

The children had the chance to enjoy performances of ancient Cheo (traditional opera) as well as learn how to make phao dat (mud cannon) and banh chung (square glutinous rice cake). The activities were performed by artisans from Thai Binh province.

The province’s cultural heritages were also introduced to visitors through the use of paintings.

In addition, visitors had an opportunity to learn more about the significance of Tet Festival through the erection of cay neu (a symbolic bamboo tree), the asking for calligraphic letters, Dong Ho folk painting, making to he (toy figurines) and the paintings of 12 animal designations through the introduction of artisans from Bac Ninh and Hanoi.
