Promoting brand of Ven village OCOP tourism product
Attractive destination
According to a representative of Than Truong Cooperative, during the four-day National Day holiday, the Ven village eco-cultural tourist site welcomed more than 2,000 visitors. A few years ago, tourists coming here were mainly locals, but now they are from Hanoi and other provinces such as Thai Nguyen and Lang Son. Although it was recognized as a community-based tourist destination not long ago (October 2019), Ven village has quickly become popular among a large number of tourists thanks to its green natural landscape, historical and cultural relic sites like the Xuan Lung communal house and pagoda, ancient well, Nga waterfall, Ngac Hai lake and ancient ironwood tree...
In particular, Ven village boasts a high-quality tea production area with the esoteric tea-making method of the Cao Lan ethnic people. The tea hills are not only the main source of income for locals but also a magnet to tourists.
In order to tap the advantages to attract tourists, in recent years, Yen The district has paid attention to tourism development in Xuan Luong commune. The transport system has been upgraded and expanded. The cultural sector has also provided local residents with methods of providing community tourism services, while strengthening the promotion of tourism products.
Improving professionalism
Promoting the local potential and advantages, in 2022, the Yen The district People's Committee has registered the Ven village eco-cultural tourism product for the OCOP product evaluation and classification programme with a set of products: community-based tourism services and tourist attractions. With a cluster of homestays consisting of six stilt houses and nearly a dozen small huts, the eco-tourism area can meet the needs of overnight stays for nearly 300 visitors per night and provide catering services for about 1,000 tourists per day.

Than Truong cooperative has joined hands with 22 households to apply science and technology in producing and processing Ven village green tea up to VietGAP standard, and organize experience activities such as picking and drying tea leaves, helping increase income for the households.
Nguyen Van Luy, Director of the Sub-Department of Rural Development under the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: “With the first product of the community-based tourism group recognized as a three-star OCOP tourist destination, Bac Giang owns recognized OCOP products in five out of six groups. This will open up opportunities and encourage entities operating in tourism to invest in developing OCOP products.
In order to maintain and upgrade the brand name of the Ven village eco-cultural tourism product, since the beginning of May 2022, Than Truong Cooperative has invested in renovating the bamboo forest and arranging a number of decorative miniatures. During the last National Day holiday, the cooperative launched campfire services and cultural exchanges with the Cao Lan ethnic people for groups of tourists.
Immediately after being rated three stars, the cooperative has devised a plan to upgrade the Ven village eco-cultural tourism product, focusing on the criteria with low scores such as the qualification of reception staff, guides and chefs. The cooperative has also sent employees to professional training courses and contacted a number of units to search for qualified human resources. It has poured about 2-3 billion VND (126,600 USD) into improving the quality of accommodation facilities.
