The 55-year-old male passenger on Vietnam Airlines' flight VN62 on Sept. 11 developed symptoms of dizziness and fatigue around two hours after takeoff.

The cabin crew activated emergency protocols, administered first aid and broadcast a request for medical support from passengers, an airline's representative told.

Four doctors from a high-level delegation of the Russian Ministry of Health on an official visit to Vietnam responded to the call, working with the crew to examine, consult, and provide prompt medical care to the Russian passenger.

Among them was Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, who personally examined and provided first aid to the man.

According to Russian broadcaster RT, the passenger was suffering a hypertensive crisis, a sudden and severe spike in blood pressure that can cause organ damage or even death if untreated.

A video shared by RT showed the passenger lying down with minister Murashko and several flight attendants attending to him.

The medical team and cabin crew continued to monitor his condition throughout the journey, and the passenger was later moved to the premium economy cabin to rest while under observation. By the time the plane landed at Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport, the passenger's health had stabilized.

Murashko, 58, has served as Russia's health minister since January 2020 and previously headed the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare.

He was in Vietnam leading a delegation from Sept. 12 to 14, accompanied by heads of national medical research centers, representatives from pharmaceutical and medical equipment firms, and officials from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, according to the Russian Embassy in Vietnam.
