Viet Nam’s 2025 IOI team’s achievements include: Le Kien Thanh (Grade 12, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Gia Lai Province) with a gold medal; Dang Huy Hau (Grade 10, Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Lam Dong Province) and Nguyen Bui Duc Dung (Grade 11, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, Viet Nam National University, Ha Noi) gaining two silver medals; Ninh Quang Thang (Grade 12, Hạ Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh Province) with a bronze medal.

With all members receiving medals, Viet Nam ranks among the top 8 highest-performing countries and territories, following China, the Republic of Korea, Romania, Singapore, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Japan.

The Ministry of Education and Training emphasised that this excellent result reaffirms Viet Nam’s strong position in international academic competitions and reflects the ministry’s effective strategy in identifying and nurturing talented students.

The 37th IOI was held in person, with 330 contestants from 86 countries and territories participating. Notably, Russia and Belarus joined under the Olympic flag.

The competition featured two five-hour programming exams over two days, during which participants solved three complex algorithmic problems each day. The online judging system provided live scoring throughout the contest.

The closing and award ceremony took place at 4:30 pm (Bolivia time) on Saturday, August 2.

Bac Ninh student wins gold medal at int’l chemistry Olympiad 2025
