Sun Group launches construction of Gia Binh airport – Hanoi connecting road
BAC NINH- Sun Group has launched construction of the road connecting Gia Binh international airport to Hanoi capital. With a total investment of more than 25.087 trillion VND (936.36 million USD), the project will feature a 10-lane roadway and is expected to become a new growth driver for the capital region ahead of APEC 2027.
Sun Group organized a ceremony on June 12 to launch the project constructing the road connecting Gia Binh international airport to Hanoi capital.

The event was attended by Pham Van Thinh, member of the provincial Standing Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee (PPC) and leaders of related departments, agencies and localities.
The project section crossing Bac Ninh province from Km9+00 to Km27+766 (excluding the land clearance works) is implemented under a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model, using a Build–Transfer (BT) contract, with payment made through land-use rights. The total investment is over 25.087 trillion VND (953.9 million USD).
The project includes a main roadway approximately 18.8 kilometres in length, with its starting point located in Gia Binh commune and its endpoint in Tri Qua ward.
The road will have a cross-sectional width of 120 meters, featuring 10 traffic lanes, a central green median, and landscaped green belts on both sides.
The project also comprises 4 grade-separated interchanges and flyover bridges providing full directional access, as well as underpasses for local traffic along the route.
In addition, it will include an integrated smart transportation and street lighting systems and other supporting infrastructure to ensure safety, quality and operational efficiency.
The project covers a land area of around 412.6 hectares running across 6 communes and wards. It will be implemented within 30 months while the main route must be basically completed ahead of APEC 2027.
The joint venture of Cong Thanh Transport Construction and Investment Joint Stock Company and Cam Pha Sun Company Limited (a member of Sun Group) was selected investor of the project.
Once completed, the route will create a seamless connection between Gia Binh international airport and Hanoi, meeting the urgent need to enhance the region’s core infrastructure network while maximizing the strategic role of Gia Binh international airport.
Besides, the project is aligned with the strategic development plans for urban, industrial, and logistics spaces, while also meeting the infrastructure requirements for hosting major international events, including the 2027 APEC Summit, in accordance with the directives of Vietnam’s Party and State leadership.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, PPC Vice Chairman Pham Van Thinh stressed this is a strategically significant traffic infrastructure project not only for Bac Ninh province but also the capital region and the whole nation.
Once it and Gia Binh airport are completed, the route will create a new growth driver, contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of the province, region and country.
The provincial leader urged the investor and contractors to mobilize maximum resources and strive to complete site clearance and hand over cleared land by July 2026, while ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of affected residents.
PPC Vice Chairman Pham Van Thinh believed that the project will be completed on schedule, contributing to promoting efficiency of the key national traffic infrastructure system and driving socio-economic development in coming time.
