Sunflower field draws visitors

Updated: 16:35, 30/01/2018
(BGO) – Recently, many people in and out of the northern province of Bac Giang have flocked to the sunflower field owned by the family of Le Van Duong in Da Mai ward (Bac Giang city). The flower field combined with the Rose Garden film studio has attracted a large crowd of people, especially youngsters, to take photos.

The vast flower field is an ideal place for youngsters to enjoy and take photos.

Recognising the local big demand for entertainment and traveling plus there is no large-scale eco-tourism site in the city, Duong rent nearly three hectares of land at Thuyen field to grow Japanese-originated sunflowers. At present, the whole area of sunflowers is growing well with some blossoming.

However, the height of the flowers has not reached the maximum due to lack of technical experience. Duong said from the next crop, he will adjust the caring technique to make flowers thrive. He plans to grow three crops of flowers each year to meet the visitors’ demand.

Groups of young people come to this place to take photos.

Duong is organizing a sunflower festival from late December 2017 to January 2018, drawing a large number of visitors across the province and neighboring localities such as Bac Ninh, Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, and Lang Son. The event attracts nearly 300-500 visitors each day and about 30 couples come to take wedding photos.

Tickets to the flower field are 50,000 VND (2.2 USD) per an adult; 350 VND (15 USD) a wedding couple. The elderly and children under 15 get free entrance.

The peak days attract more than 1,000 tourists. Most of the visitors love the beautiful and romantic scene. Do Thi Lan, a bride from Tan Yen district said “I come here to take wedding photos and I find the scene very beautiful. Apart from the film studio, there is a large sunflower field with other flowers. We have many beautiful shots.”

Meanwhile, Nguyen Mai Hoa from My Do ward (Bac Giang city) said “This place is near my home, so when I know there is a sunflower field, I asked some of my friends to come here to take photos. Previously, I had to go to other provinces such as Nghe An and Son La to admire sunflower fields. Now, there is an ideal destination in Bac Giang city, so I will introduce more friends to come here.”

Many couples take their wedding photos in this field.

With the initial achievements, Le Van Duong plans to expand his field by six hectares, raising the total area of the field to 10 hectares for planting sunflower, Japanese daisy and cosmos flowers.

“I used to work as a photographer. After building a wedding studio, I realized that the business goes well. Therefore, I invested in developing a sunflower field. I intend to expand the field and plant other flowers, with the hope of creating an entertainment place for people from in and outside the province during holidays and weekends,” Duong shared his future plan.

Duong has a studio called Rose Garden covering 1.5 hectares in Thuyen field, in Da Mai ward, far from residential areas. The studio has a bar and rooms and is designed with gates, walls, rivers and bridges, and artificial flowers in the mixed Vietnamese, Asian, and European style.

The area, which has attracted numerous couples and young people to come and take photos, has contributed to promoting local tourism development. It has been offered with numerous incentives from the local authority.

Nguyen Manh Thai, Chairman of the Da Mai Ward People’s Committee, said “In order to ensure sustainable development of the model, the committee, in collaboration with the Economic Office, Agriculture Promotion Station, and Plant Protection Station of Bac Giang city, has provided technical assistance for Duong in caring flowers. His first flower crop was lucrative.”
