In March 2023, the Provincial People's Committee organized the forum themed "Orientation for developing the innovation startup ecosystem in Bac Giang province" and launched the Innovation Startup competition. This was the opening activity for the Techfest Bac Giang 2023 event series.

The forum opened up many solutions and valuable lessons from experts, making Bac Giang one of the innovation startup hubs of the country.

After one month of launching the contest, the Department of Science and Technology received nearly 100 startup applications in many fields such as agricultural production, industry, environment, tourism, education, e-commerce... Nine most outstanding projects were selected to the final round.

“Cao Lan Farmstay – Green, circular, digital transformation and environmental protection OCOP farm project” by author Hoang Xuan Mau, Director of Cao Lan Agricultural and Service Cooperative (Cooperative) in the commune Xuan Luong (Yen The) is one of them.

The Cooperative's project not only cultivates crops, raises livestock safely together with earthworms to treat by-products, solve the problem of environmental pollution but also provides the market with dishes rich in national identity following the OCOP (One Commune One Product) direction.

The young director actively applies digital transformation in all stages, especially in promoting, introducing and consuming products so his project has gained many "sweet fruits".

There are many other innovative startup projects qualified to the final round. The Jury Board initially evaluated that most projects have identified target markets with development strategies and plans, the capacity and reputation of the implementation team as well as the long-term vision.

Opening up opportunities

Following the success, the Techfest Bac Giang 2023 series of events are held for three days (from November 10-12) with many meaningful activities. With the theme "Bac Giang inspires initiative and aspiration to reach far”, the opening ceremony will be held on November 11 in Bac Giang City.

Within the framework of the event, there will also be scientific seminars on innovative startups associated with sustainable tourism development; policy forum on startup corridors and development opportunities.

Nguyen Thanh Binh, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Standing Deputy Head of the Techfest Bac Giang 2023 Organizing Committee emphasized that the event is a bridge connecting the innovation startup ecosystem of Bac Giang province with neighboring localities to form regional creative startup ecosystems and build a national innovation startup ecosystem.

This is also an opportunity for start-up businesses and individuals to exchange and learn from experts' experiences; introduce and promote local science and technology products together with local key products; promote supply-demand connection.

As the schedule, by 2025, Bac Giang province strives to be in the group of 15 provinces and cities nationwide with most effectively implementation of the Prime Minister's Project on "Supporting the national innovation startup ecosystem until 2025."

The Techfest Bac Giang 2023 is a meaningful activity and an important highlight in the implementation of this Project, contributing to spreading and promoting the innovation startup movement in the province.

Bac Giang project enters final of National Women's Startup Contest
