Uncle Ho soldiers on the frontline against pandemic

Updated: 07:35, 15/05/2021
(BGO) - Together with the Steering Committees for the Covid-19 Prevention and Control at all levels, agencies and units of the armed forces in Bac Giang province have been always ready and actively participating in the prevention and control of the pandemic. The nature of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" has been promoted by them to ensure the safety of the community.

On duty around the clock to prepare for situations

Since March 2020, Major Dong Van Tai, Captain of Company 1, Battalion 1, Regiment 831 under the provincial Military Command, and Major Leo Van Nam, Commander of Battalion 3, Regiment 831 have joined their comrades to stay on duty around the clock to ensure the safety in the concentrated quarantine sites.

The medical team checks the body temperature of a citizen quarantined at the concentrated medical quarantine area in Viet Yen district.

As soon as a citizen showed signs of violating the regulations, they have quickly used an internal speaker to remind them in order to prevent cross-contamination in the quarantine area. There are currently 204 Vietnamese and Chinese nationals under quarantine here.

Strictly following the directions of the provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control and the Department of Health on classifying, arranging and organizing concentrated quarantine, when receiving citizens, officers and soldiers of the unit, in coordination with the medical and public security forces, have quickly studied the epidemiological history and put them in suitable rooms and areas.

Each of F1s - people who are in direct contact with Covid-19 cases is arranged in a separate room of a separate building. People with similar epidemiological factors (same family, flight, time, location) are arranged with four per room.

At the second quarantine site, Regiment 831 is urgently preparing facilities to receive about 300 citizens for concentrated quarantine in the next few days. The unit has promptly disinfected all houses and halls; prepared 300 sets of beds, mats, blankets and mosquito nets, and many other items serving the citizens’ concentrated quarantine.

In Viet Yen district, two concentrated quarantine areas at the headquarters of the People's Committee of the old Nenh township and the Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University are strictly managed by the district Military Command, which assigns officers and soldiers on duty all day and night.

Preparing many options

Amid the complicated developments of the epidemic, the provincial Military Command has directed military agencies at all levels to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the documents of the Government, the Ministry of National Defense, the Military Region, the provincial Party Committee, the provincial People's Committee, and the Steering Committee of Covid-19 Prevention and Control of the provincial Military Command on pandemic prevention and control.

Officers and soldiers of Regiment 831 prepare meals at the quarantine area of the Bac Giang National Defense and Security Education Center.

Colonel Le Van Thang, Commander of the provincial Military Command, said: "With the motto "four on-the-spots" (on-the-spot prevention, quarantine and treatment; on-the-spot facilities, equipment, medicines and protective equipment; on-the-spot funding; and on-the-spot human resources), the provincial Military Command has instructed its chapters in districts and city to advise local Party committees and authorities at the same levels to utilize schools as concentrated quarantine areas and mobilize on-site military forces to join the fight against Covid-19 in the fastest and most urgent way. In addition, the provincial Military Command maintains a Zalo group to capture the daily pandemic situation and direct the disease prevention and control of agencies and units. In this group, there are Commanders of the Military Commands of 10 district and city, and Regiment 831, as well as heads of four divisions. All information about the pandemic reaches the commanders as quickly as possible, thus limiting travel.

Currently, the province's armed forces maintain nearly 200 checkpoints with more than 200 officers and soldiers on duty to prevent the spread of the disease, and support the local Steering Committees for Covid-19 Prevention and Control in this work.

In order to cope with the scenario in which the number of cases skyrockets, the provincial Military Command has prepared many options, facilities, and concentrated quarantine sites for F1 cases. At the same time, it has closely coordinated with localities and units stationed in the areas to prepare a Covid-19 treatment hospital to receive patients...
