Vietnam wants Covid booster shots completed in Q1

PM Pham Minh Chinh has instructed authorities around the country to speed up the third dose of Covid-19 vaccination for people aged 18 and above.
In a communiqué sent to all 63 cities and provinces Wednesday, he said all adults should be immunized by the end of the first quarter of this year.

He also called for administering the second dose to everyone aged 12 to 18 this month.
All localities must continue with their campaigns to encourage people to get vaccinated and programs to send medical workers to vaccinate bedridden patients.
Around 75.4 million out of Vietnam's 96 million people have been given two doses, including 8.1 million children aged less than 18.
Besides, 22.39 million adults have gotten a third shot.
The government has given the greenlight to the selection of contractors to purchase 21.9 million Pfizer vaccine doses for children from 5 to 11 years old.
