Vietnamese track and field athletics bring home two more bronzes

Vietnamese track and field team added two bronze medals in the women’s triple jump and women’s 4x400m at the ongoing 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia on the evening of August 30.

Vu Thi Men jumped 13.93 m to bring home another bronze medal to the Vietnamese sports delegation. Gold medalist in the women’s long jump, Bui Thi Thu Thao, suddenly withdrew from the triple jump this evening due to health reasons, but Men was outstanding to grab the bronze.

Later, Quach Thi Lan, Nguyen Thi Oanh, Nguyen Thi Hang and Hoang Thi Ngoc won another bronze medal in the women's 4x400m relay after finishing third in a seasonal best of 3:33.23.

In the women's 1,500m, Vu Thi Oanh finished fourth despite breaking her personal record with 4:15.49.

Nguyen Van Lai crossed the finish line in men’s 5,000m after 14:56.09, ranked 7th among 12 athletes. In the previous Games, Lai finished 11th in the same event.

Le Tu Chinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen, Luu Kim Phung and Ha Thi Thu were also ranked 7th in the women’s 4x100m relay with 45.42.

Earlier, kurash athlete Nguyen Thi Lan secured a bronze medal after losing to Mongolian Otgon Munkhtsetseg in the semi-final of women’s under 78kg.

As of 10 pm on August 30, Vietnam bagged four gold, 15 silver, and 16 bronze medals, ranking 15th in the 2018 Asian Games medal tally.
