Widespreading good deed from blood donating families and relatives
Nurturing humanity
For years, the annual donated blood in Bac Giang province has exceeded the target assigned by the National Steering Committee for VBD. Apart from highly focus on instructing and calling for the participation from the people of all strata, one of the key solution to widespread the blood donation activity for saving life among the community is to multiple the model of blood donating families and relatives.

Actually, the communication will be much more effective with sustainable result when the family members like husband, wife, children, sister, brother...join hand in VBD campaign.
One of the outstanding families in the provincial VBD is family of Tran Van Dan (born in 1968) in Vang village, Tien Luc commune (Lang Giang district) who was one of 12 models granted with Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee at the ceremony to honoring the typical blood donor in 2020 for total VBD of 29.
Apart from 30 VBD clubs and groups with more than 1,700 volunteers, the province now has more than 100 families with 2 to 6 members participating in this humanitarian campaign. Each family has donated over 10 blood units on average, typically families of Nguyen Thi Quy in Phuc Hoa commune, Tan Yen district (record times of 40 blood donation), Nguyen Duy Dong in Phi Dien commune, Luc Ngan district (30 times); the Hoang, the Pham, the Nguyen in Phi Dien commune, Luc Ngan district; the Dong Phu in An Ha commune, Lang Giang district. |
In 2019, Luc Ngan district ranked third in the province in term of received blood which was greatly contributed by the blood donating relatives and families, according to Chairman of the Red Cross Society (RCS), Vice Head of the Steering Board for district VBD Vi Van Tuan.
Thus, after each charity work, the stories about giving blood to save life become the topic at the most concern that helps connect the families, relatives and neighbours. To multiple the good deed, the district Steering Board has kept organizing the event to honor the outstanding blood donors since 2012.
Widespreading love among community
According to Le Thi Duyen, Chairwoman of the provincial RCS, Vice Head of the provincial Steering Committee’s Standing Board, since 2005, the province has received nearly 160,000 blood units. The VBD has become meaningful and widespread campaign in the society.
Bac Giang is also one of the few provincies across the nation to launch the event in response of the big campaign such as Red Spring Festival, VBD Festival among community, Red Blood Campaign in Summer, Red Journey at all districts and city.
In 2019, the province received 20,900 blood unit with the participating rate of 1.17 percent of the population, higher than the national average rate. In spite of the difficulties caused by Covid-19 pandemic since early this year, the Steering Committee at all levels strove to call for the participant and receive more than 16,000 blood units, accounting for 103 percent of the annual target to help recover the blood shortage in patients treatment and emergency.

The prominent results were contributed by the blood donating families and relatives. To widespread the model, annually the Steering Committee for VBD at all levels organize event to honor the exemplary models to encourage and stimulate the movement in the community.
To pervade the meaningful message of “Each given blood helps save one life” and attract the participation of the whole society, especially each member in the family and relative, the Steering Committee for VBD at all levels will build up meeting programme to promote exchange among volunteers, blood receivers, patients as well as effective VBD festival apart from honoring the outstanding blood donating families and relatives every year.
