Writing contest on President Ho Chi Minh launched in Indonesia

The Embassy of Vietnam in Indonesia and Radio the Voice of Vietnam’s channel for external news service (VOV5) on September 18 launched a writing contest on President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to Indonesia 60 years ago.

Entries of the contest should focus on the visit of President Ho Chi Minh, the friendship between the President and Indonesian President Sukarno and the Vietnam-Indonesia strategic partnership.
The winner will receive a cash prize worth 1 million rupiah (nearly 70 USD) and a gemstone painting featuring President Ho Chi Minh, along with a trip to Hanoi to attend a seminar marking 60 years since the President’s trip to Indonesia, which is scheduled to take place later this year.
More than 50,000 people pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh
As many as 50,066 people, including 1,462 foreigners, paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Hanoi during the National Day holiday which lasts from August 31 to September 2.
Ho Chi Minh's life and work in the presidential palace
In the last 15 years of his life Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh lived in two houses inside the official presidential residence in Hanoi. During his life Ho Chi Minh lived and worked in various parts of the country and even abroad for the cause of his revolutionary movement, but these two small houses inside the palace were where he stayed the longest, from 1954 until he died in 1969.

General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong on September 1 offered incense in memory of President Ho Chi Minh at House 67 in the Ho Chi Minh relic site, where the President passed away on September 2, 1969.
