Tourists to Yen The can visit the Hoang Hoa Tham historical relic site and several temples and pagodas like Huyet Co (Nguyet Ho) in Huong Vi commune; Suoi Cay in Dong Ky commune; Trang in Dong Son commune; and Co in Tam Hiep commune among others.

Besides, they can enjoy vast primaeval forests and clean natural streams in the mountainous commune of Xuan Luong, which also houses waterfalls Deo Nga, Deo Da and Ranh Coc with the height of 15-30 meters, which are suitable for eco-tourism.

In Ven hamlet, tourists can taste green tea of the Cao Lan ethnic minority group, which is produced by traditional methods and in a closed process, together with fresh air and amazing experiences in living with locals. 

Yen The is the homeland of national hero Hoang Hoa Tham. The most notable tourist attractions in Yen The are Nga waterfall, Xoan and Ben hamlets in Xuan Luong commune. To utilise the local tourism potential, the Yen The Service and Tourism Cooperative was established in December 2016 with seven members. Vu Xuan Quy, who spent more than 20 years on activities associated with Thac Nga forest, was elected as the cooperative’s CEO and Director. 

Other members have been in charge of different areas based on their capacity. The cooperative serves special holiday-makers with dishes like different types of steamed glutinous rice, pork, fish and vegetables.

Vu Xuan Quy said that since the beginning of this year, the cooperative has welcomed over 20 delegations inside and outside the province to visit Thac Nga forest and Ngac Hai lake, and Ven hamlet. Many schools organised tours for their students to have a chance to work as tea workers by picking and drying tea leaves and packaging products in Ven hamlet.

The Ngai Hai ecological lake in Xuan Luong commune, which has a large surface, numerous isles, a fish farming cage system, and two-storey floating house equipped with all conveniences, becomes a destination ideal for nature lovers and those who like fishing and sightseeing.

Along with advantages in historical, ecological and spiritual tourism, Yen The is also known for its specialties such as “Yen The hill chickens”, litchi, longan, canarium, and several forest products like Shiitake, cloud ear fungus, bamboo sprout, hazelnut and honey. It also has such food specialties as sweet shortcake, “che lam” cake, sticky rice cake, steamed glutinous rice and wine.

With its natural advantages, Yen The has been promoting its tourism potential and opening its door to visitors. Trieu Van Phuong, head of the district’s culture department, affirmed: “Yen The sets a target of mobilising and using resources effectively to gradually invest and exploit its local tourism potential. Historical and cultural tourism is considered a foundation to develop ecological, trade village and spiritual tourism. Most recently, the district People’s Committee coordinated with the Defence Ministry’s external services tourism company to study and select destinations serving the organisation of tours of Yen The, thus helping intensify connectivity and meet the demand of visitors to the district.”
