Another Covid-19 patient dies in Vietnam

A 71-year-old woman with Covid-19 has been confirmed dead in Nghe An, making the first coronavirus fatality in the central province and the 87th in the country.

Living in Vinh Tan Ward of Vinh Town, the capital of Nghe An, she was admitted to the Nghe An Friendship General Hospital on June 23 after contracting the new coronavirus.

A patient with diabetes and hypertension, her conditions quickly developed worse and she had to rely on a ventilator and go through dialysis in recent days.

She died late Sunday night, marking the 52nd death of the ongoing Covid wave, which started in late April.

Vietnam has recorded 16,782 community infections so far in this wave, which is by far the most challenging one it has suffered since the beginning of the pandemic.

Nghe An has recorded 123 cases in this wave.

Vietnam records 263 local Covid cases
