Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang Province People’s Committee Le Anh Duong presents the certificate of merit of the Chairman of Bac Giang to organizations.

The event was attended by Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Duong Van Thai and representatives of a number of departments, agencies, organizations and the Viet Yen district People’s Committee.

After one year of implementation, the movement has attracted the participation of people from all social strata, significantly contributing to realizing local socio-economic tasks. Specifically, the all-level Fatherland Fronts collected public opinions on outcomes of the new-style rural and civilized urban areas in 18 communes that have completed the target.

Accordingly, 90 percent of them said they are satisfied with the results. The localities launched a range of activities, bringing pragmatic outcomes. The most noteworthy are drives to encourage people to donate land and contribute money and human forces to building roads in Dai Lam commune, Lang Giang district; to encourage people to regroup land and build model fields in Bac Lung commune, Luc Nam district; build a safe section of road in Neo town, Yen Dung district; and establish a self-managed group to protect the environment in Song Khe commune, Bac Giang city. Member organizations of the Fatherland Front also intensified their coordination to build many facilities within the framework of the movement.

In building the cultural life, the provincial Fatherland Front gave guidelines on registering, popularising and improving the quality of the title of “family of culture,” “village and ward of culture,” and practicing a civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals and festivals.

Apart from outcomes, the movement has shown limitations such as unequal performance and lack of attention to discovering and duplicating role models.

Addressing the event, Thai applauded contributions of all-level Fatherland Fronts and its member organizations in implementing the movement. He called for efforts in researching and renewing methods, as well as more attention to environmental hygiene and food safety.

Effectively implementing democracy at the grassroots level in a manner of publicity and transparency to mobilize the involvement of a large number of people; and paying attention to evaluating the performance, rewarding and increasing outstanding individuals and organizations.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee of Bac Giang province honored 19 outstanding models in the movement.

On the same day, the provincial Steering Committee of the movement “All people unite to build a cultural life” held a conference chaired by Le Anh Duong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee and head of the Steering Committee, to review activities of the movement in 2017, and set plans for 2018; representatives from departments, sectors and the Steering Committees of districts and Bac Giang city also attended the event.

In 2017, the quality of the movement “All people unite to build a cultural life” has been improved with various contents. The cultural institutions have been constantly built and upgraded. As many as 384,070 out of 437,041 local families (or 87.8 percent of the local population) were honoured with the title of cultural family, 0.8 percent higher than 2016; 1,896 out of 2,481 residential areas were honoured with the cultural title, up 6.5 percent compared with 2016; and 61 out of 204 communes meet the standard of new rural culture, an increase of 12 communes against 2016.

In 2018, the Steering Committee of the movement at all levels will foster their direction in order to improve the quality of the movement, towards promoting the performance of civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals and festivals; and raising the effectiveness of campaigns to raise public awareness of the work.

At the conference, participants shared experiences in multiplying effective models, outstanding individuals and organizations; and in enhancing the inspection and guidance of establishments to strictly carry out recognition of cultural titles.

Speaking at the conference, Le Anh Duong appreciated the steering committees at all levels for their great efforts, initiatives and effective models, while asking the committees to overcome limitations and difficulties, and roll out plans to build and expand the model in the direction of improving the quality of cultural titles;

Attention should be paid to investing and mobilizing social contributions into building the sport and cultural institutions, he said, adding that the provincial cultural sector should enhance experience sharing, and renovate the method of supervision and evaluation, and recognition of cultural titles in the direction of attaching importance to the true and repelling the achievement habit.

On this occasion, 208 organizations (families, residential areas, agencies, units) were granted with certificates of merit from the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee.
