Stopping to welcome the guests, Phat shared that this year his family has 800 sweet orange trees under harvest season with estimated productivity of about 15 tonnes. Thanks to the VietGAP application and biosafety cultivation, his fruits are uniform in size with higher quality and sold

At the same hamlet, the household of Tran Dang Vinh is busy at harvesting the fruits. More than one hectare of yellow flesh orange, green skin pomelo, sweet orange
Now, Vinh only balances nearly 10 tonnes of sweet orange which Hanoi based tradesmen deposited to buy for Tet’s market with an average price of 40 – 45,000 VND (1.72 – 1.94 USD) per kilogram.
According to the People’s Committee in Tan Quang commune, the locality has 443 hectares of orange and pomelo with an output of nearly 9,000 tonnes of fruits that are totally worth more than 232 billion VND (10 million USD), nearly doubling the figure last year.
Similarly, the households in Hong Giang commune have sold more than 5,000 tonnes of orange and pomelo, accounting for over 90 percent of the total productivity. The People’s Committee in Luc Ngan district informed that some 50,000 tonnes of citrus fruits have been consumed in the district, making up more than 80 percent of the total output, of which 100 percent of yellow flesh orange and green skin pomelo and 70 percent of sweet orange and pomelo are sold.

The enterprises and cooperatives in the district have actively expanded the domestic markets by introducing the orange and pomelo to the big supermarkets and wholesale markets in Hanoi city, Ho Chi Minh

Pham Van Dung, Director of Hong Xuan Agriculture Cooperative of General Services Producing and Trading said: “We are serving the order of Big C Supermarket that requires over 70 tonnes of sweet orange and green jujube. Besides, the Cooperative has supplied about 500 tonnes of orange, 350 tonnes of jujube and over 38,000 pomelos to the wholesale markets in Bac Ninh province and Hanoi city. As expected, the demand on the occasion of Lunar New Year will highly increase; hence we sufficiently store the goods”.
Also, the businesses and tradesmen in Hanoi city and Southern provinces have flocked to Luc Ngan district to buy the fruits for over one month. After being classified and packed, hundreds of tonnes of orange and pomelo are daily transported by containers to the Southern markets.
Apart from the big weighting points, many visitors knew about the trademark and quality of Luc Ngan fruits via the Luc Ngan trade fair of orange, pomelo and signature products in 2018. After that, several of them become the selling agency and distributor to bring Luc Ngan fruits to other provinces.
This year, the harvest season of Luc Ngan fruit will last till next month. Almost all of the remaining areas have been basically deposited by the businessmen, groups of tradesmen and enterprises for Tet holiday.
Nguyen Van Hai, Head of the Economy and Infrastructure Division in Luc Ngan district spoke highly of the success orange and pomelo crop that brought huge income to the farmers in the district. The district People’s Committee has instructed the competent agencies to guide the households and cooperatives to focus on post-harvest caring and preparing the condition to the next crops.
