Bac Giang plants more than 100,000 new trees

(BGO) – Since February 6, many localities in Bac Giang province have started “Tree Planting Festival to forever commemorate Uncle Ho – 2022 Lunar New Year” and implemented “Planting one billion trees” programme launched by the Prime Minister.

By February 14, eight out of ten districts and city together with four departments and sectors, Office of the provincial People’s Committee and communal level units held “Tree planting festival” and “Planting one billion trees” programme, helping grow more than 1,000 trees of all kinds (fruit, shade and forestry trees).

The officials and locals in Son Dong district join the “Tree Planting Festival” in Van Son commune.

Since early this year, Bac Giang has developed 524 ha of centralized forest, up nearly 400 ha year on year and more than 100,000 scattered trees, increasing nearly 10,000 trees against the same period last year.

“Tree Planting Festival” this year is launched from February 6 – 28. About 33,200 trees will be planted at the launching ceremonies.

Besides, the province is planning to grow 6.1 million scattered trees to respond to “Planting one billion trees” programme launched by the Prime Minister, up 1.1 million trees comparing to the 2021 plan.
