It have promoted the mobilization of social sources for education, and study and talent encouragement, thus creating favorable conditions for everyone and every family, especially poor and disadvantaged children, to have more opportunities to study and rise up in life.

Widespread movement

Dao Xuan Can, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial Study Encouragement Association, presents scholarships to students in Son Dong district.

The Bac Giang Study Encouragement Association was established following Decision No. 08 dated March 16, 1999 of the provincial People's Committee. With the attention, direction and support of the Party committees and authorities at all levels, the study and talent encouragement movement has developed strongly and widely throughout the province.

Now, all 10 districts and city, and all communes and townships have study encouragement associations; 160 out of 230 associations operate well, reaching 70 percent. Chapters of the associations were set up in all villages. The associations’ activities have been effective, contributing to arousing the traditional fondness for learning of the local children.

All schools from kindergartens and primary schools to secondary and high schools (820 educational establishments) have chapters of the study encouragement associations or study encouragement boards. 

Prominent among those are the Study Encouragement Associations of Yen Dung, Viet Yen, Luc Nam, Hiep Hoa, Yen The, Tan Yen and Luc Ngan districts. The provincial Veterans Association has established a chapter of the Luc Ngan Study Promotion Association while three communal-level study promotion boards were set up in Yen Dung district.

The raising of money for the study encouragement funds of associations at all levels in the province has been promoted. Over the past 20 years, these funds have reached more than 100 billion VND (4.3 million USD), used to award scholarships, grants, gifts, and rewards worth 73 billion VND in total to 1.5 million disadvantaged students and teachers who made excellent learning and teaching achievements as well as support the building of school facilities and classrooms, and purchase of equipment and learning tools worth more than 10 billion VND.

Building "learning province" model

It helps promote the province's study and talent encouragement movement.

After 20 years of construction and development, the provincial Study Encouragement Association has seen encouraging progress, and was evaluated by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Study Encouragement Association as among the top nationwide in the study and talent encouragement and learning society building movement in the locality.

In the coming years, in order to promote the role, position, potential and strength of the provincial Study Encouragement Association, associations at all levels will work together to consolidate and develop associations of wards, communes and townships to make them strong and build effective learning society models in wards, communes and townships. 

They will promote and renovate the information and popularization of study and talent encouragement, lifelong learning and learning society building.

The provincial Study Encouragement Association will continue to coordinate with the Journalists Association, the Bac Giang Newspaper, and the Radio and Television Station of the province to promote the popularization of typical examples of collectives, individuals, families and clans who make efforts in learning, working, and production and business. 

It will consolidate and develop associations and their members in local communities, schools and agencies.

Districts and city will continue to provide financial support for the sustainable development of communal learning centers, creating favorable conditions for the centers to engage in study and talent encouragement and vocational training activities toward building a really effective learning society in line with the criteria approved by the Government.

A district-level "learning unit" model and a "learning province" model will be developed. The province strives to mobilize and build study encouragement funds at all levels with 30,000 VND per person to continue creating resources to motivate poor students to overcome difficulties to study well and reward good students with high achievements in provincial, national and international examinations, those with science and technology creativity, as well as typical families, clans and individuals.

Coordination programmes signed between the provincial Study Encouragement Association and relevant departments, agencies and organizations will continue to be implemented effectively to promote the province's study and talent encouragement movement.

Some 47,000 USD donated to Than Nhan Trung Study Encouragement Fund

Nguyen Duc Viet and his effective method in English studying

(BGO) – “Setting goal and spending utmost effort” is the sharing of Nguyen Duc Viet, student at class 9A1 in Than Nhan Trung Secondary School in Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province who won the first prize in English with 87.5 points (highest score at secondary school) at the provincial contest for excellent students in the academic year 2018 – 2019.
