Bac Ninh applies digital transformation, boosts trade promotion

Updated: 14:41, 27/08/2025

BAC NINH - Currently, the application of digital transformation in commercial activities has become an inevitable trend for producers, service providers, and consumers. This is especially evident in shopping malls and supermarkets in Bac Ninh province. Most businesses, cooperatives, and production establishments have moved their products onto e-commerce platforms to promote their brands and help sell products more effectively.

Convenient shopping

There are currently nine shopping centres, 32 supermarkets, 264 markets, and thousands of convenience stores across the province, ranging from urban to rural areas. Many people have developed new shopping habits through modern digital technology applications.

Customers are shopping at WinMart Bac Ninh supermarket.

At WinMart Bac Ninh supermarket in addition to paying with cash, customers can use other payment methods such as ATM cards, international payment cards, scanning QR codes through digital wallet apps like VinID Pay, using the Home PayLater postpaid account, or banking apps like BIDV SmartBanking and VietinBank iPay Mobile to shop online on VinMart Online.

The use of vending machines for sales is now being installed by some businesses in industrial zones and public areas. Several production establishments are also using automated sales apps on platforms like Facebook, Zalo, Instagram, and TikTok.

Many e-commerce platforms support sellers in creating stores, listing products, and managing orders, helping consumers shop online.

Focusing on supporting digital transformation

Bac Ninh is a province with a relatively fast pace of e-commerce development, with an average annual growth rate of over 12%.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in the past, the former Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces (now merged into Bac Ninh province) used to hold dozens of workshops each year to raise awareness about e-commerce for hundreds of government managers, businesses, cooperatives, and students.

Over the past 4 years, nearly 5,000 businesses, cooperatives, and production households in the province have been supported to set up stores, promote, and sell products on e-commerce platforms.

The province now has over 360 websites registered with the Ministry of Industry and Trade for selling products. All OCOP (One Commune One Product) items and other provincial specialties are promoted and sold on both domestic and international e-commerce platforms.

A notable recent commercial activity in the province was the promotion programme for lychee. In the lychee season of 2025, the Department of Industry and Trade collaborated with Jin Pro Network Entertainment and Media Company to organise a series of events under the theme “Top Agricultural Products – Agricultural Products Come to Cities” in Luc Ngan commune, with promotions on social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.

Additionally, many businesses in the province have adopted artificial intelligence (AI) in their management, production, and product quality improvement processes to enhance the sales of goods.

To further promote digital transformation and trade promotion in the province, Nguyen Van Phuong, Deputy Director of the department, stated that in the coming time, the department will collaborate with the Department of Science and Technology and specialised enterprises to develop telecommunication infrastructure for remote areas. At the same time, they will continue to improve and expand logistics infrastructure to enhance service quality, especially in delivery and last-mile services for e-commerce.

The department will also increase efforts to promote, introduce, and support businesses and cooperatives participating in the digital transformation programme and the development of the digital economy. It will organise training and develop human resources alongside improving government management in e-commerce.

Special attention will be given to regional linkages, attracting technology companies, and high-quality digital human resources to create smart supply chains. Expanding the network of connections will also open new opportunities for the growth of e-commerce and the digital economy.
