Bac Ninh athlete wins gold at Asian Triathlon Cup
BAC NINH – Bac Ninh runner Pham Tien San has recently won a gold medal at the 2026 Asian Triathlon Cup.
Competing in the men’s duathlon event, which combines running and cycling, athletes were required to complete a 5-km run, a 20-km cycling stage and a final 2.5-km run. The discipline demands strong endurance, effective energy management and high competitive spirit.

Pham Tien San maintained his place among the leading group throughout the race. Leveraging his endurance and international competition experience, the Vietnamese athlete gained an advantage during the cycling stage before accelerating strongly in the final sprint.
After completing all three stages, Pham Tien San crossed the finish line first in 57 minutes and 58 seconds, beating an Australian competitor to secure the gold medal convincingly.
The victory adds to the athlete’s impressive list of achievements after years of dedication to sports, reaffirming his status as one of Vietnam’s leading triathlon competitors.
The result also brought excitement to fans and is expected to inspire younger athletes pursuing triathlon.

The 2026 Asian Triathlon Cup is being held from May 12-20 at the Tam Chuc National Tourism Complex in Ninh Binh Province, attracting 130 athletes from 31 teams representing countries and territories.
This year’s tournament features a full range of events, including triathlon (swimming, cycling and running), duathlon (running and cycling) and aquathlon (swimming and running).
Alongside the Asian Triathlon Cup, Vietnamese athletes are also competing in the 2026 National Triathlon Clubs Championship.
Bac Ninh’s delegation includes five athletes and one coach competing in three categories: men’s individual duathlon, women’s individual duathlon and mixed relay duathlon. Pham Tien San is scheduled to continue competing in the coming days.
