The tournament was jointly held by Vietnam Chess Federation and Bac Ninh Department of Culture and Tourism, taking place from 20 to 28 September 2026.

Chess player Tran Tra My (on the top podium, Bac Ninh team) receives the gold medal in the women’s super-blitz traditional chess event.

It brought together 106 players from 7 provinces and cities consisting of Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Hanoi, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh city and the host Bac Ninh.

The players competed in 2 groups including the excellence (men’s and women’s individual) and traditional excellence (men’s and women’s individual) covering 4 categories of rapid chess, blitz chess, super blitz chess and standard chess.

Bac Ninh delegation participated in the tournament with 13 players (10 men and 3 women).

At the tournament, Bac Ninh’s chess masters had opportunity to compete against strong opponents from Ho Chi Minh city, Quang Ninh, and Hanoi.

In intense competitions, the players proactively executed tactical plans and created closely contested positions and long games.

In the end, the Organising Board awarded 16 sets of medals to players gaining high achievements at the competition events.

Particularly, Ho Chi Minh city delegation won the first rank with 7 gold, 8 silver and 12 bronze medals, followed by Quang Ninh delegation with 4 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze medals.

Bac Ninh delegation bagged 2 gold, 3 silver and bronze medals, ranking 3rd overall.

Bac Ninh delegation’s gold medals came to chess master Tran Tra My at the women’s traditional rapid chess and traditional super blitz chess events.
