Organized by Bac Ninh Quan ho Folk Song Theater, Bac Ninh Cheo Theater and the provincial Center for Culture and Tourism Promotion, the 90–120-minute shows will be staged on five dragon boats moving across the lake.
Artists, actors and musicians will present traditional Quan ho duet singing, ancient Cheo opera and revolutionary songs. Meanwhile, Dong Ngu water puppetry performances will be held at the February 3 Square and Bac Ninh Museum No. 2, reviving folk tales and rural life with a vibrant local flavor.
On the evening of September 2, two large-scale art programmes are scheduled at February 3 Square and the Kinh Bac Cultural Center Square. The event at February 3 Square, themed “The shape of the nation – Radiant Vietnam”, will feature three chapters: Independence – Freedom, Happiness and the New Era.
The programmes will include songs honoring the Communist Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and the country’s aspirations for development with the participation from well-known singers and music competition winners.
At the Kinh Bac Cultural Center Square, the programmes “Bac Ninh – Integration and shining” will combine singing, dancing, instrumental music and Quan ho folk songs with revolutionary and patriotic themes.
Divided into three parts—Dedication to the Party, Pride of Kinh Bac, and Shining Bac Ninh—the show will feature artists from the Quan ho Folk Song Theater, the provincial Center for Culture and Tourism Promotion, dance troupes Medusa and Candy, and guest performers. Both squares will conclude the evening with fireworks displays.
From August 28 to September 5, Bac Ninh is also participating in the national exhibition “80 years of Independence – Freedom – Happiness” at the National Exhibition Center in Dong Anh, Hanoi.
Under the theme “Bac Ninh: a thousand years of culture – Aspiration to rise in the new era”, the provincial exhibition space showcases its political, economic, cultural, scientific, and social achievements.
Visitors can experience traditional crafts such as Dong Ho folk painting and Vinh Nghiem pagoda woodblock printing, as well as local cuisine. Performances of Quan ho folk songs, Ca tru and Then singing—recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage—will further highlight Bac Ninh’s cultural treasures.
On this occasion, the provincial library is displaying over 500 books and newspapers about President Ho Chi Minh, the August Revolution and National Day. The provincial Center for Culture and Tourism Promotion is also organizing free mobile film screenings in various wards, communes and units to serve officials and residents.
