The historical war film “Red Rain” surpassed 150 billion VND in cinema ticket sales on August 26. As of 10 a.m. on August 27, the film had reached 159.167 billion VND in revenue.

According to data from Box Office Viet Nam, the film “Red Rain” recorded revenue of 159.167 billion VND as of 10 a.m. on August 27.

This is an unprecedented figure for a historical, revolutionary war film. Before “Red Rain”, the film “The Tunnel: The Sun in the Darkness” also created a box-office fever, grossing about 172 billion VND (according to Box Office Viet Nam). The revenue was considered high for a film on the revolutionary war, but it is expected to be easily surpassed by “Red Rain” soon.

“Red Rain” became the first revolutionary war film to reach 100 billion VND in just four days. By day six, it had already crossed 150 billion VND.

“Red Rain” is a fictional film inspired by the 81-day-and-night battle at Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, produced by the People’s Army Cinema and directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen.

This is the third revolutionary war-themed film to be commercially released in cinemas, following the experimental case of “Dao, Pho and Piano” in early 2024 and “The Tunnel: The Sun in the Darkness”, which was released on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

The film has the participation of many young artists, some of whom made their debut in cinema, but still managed to bring great emotions to audiences.

It currently has the highest number of screenings at cinemas nationwide.
