The provincial Party Chief, a member of the Party Central Committee, on August 13 welcomed the ambassador and his delegation to Bac Ninh and briefed them on the province's recent socio-economic development.

China is one of Bac Ninh's key investment partners. The province is home to nearly 600 Chinese companies with 1,622 projects and total registered investment of more than 12 billion USD.

The projects focus on electronics manufacturing and assembly, supporting industries, trade and services which significantly contribute to local economic development and create jobs to labours.

An overview of the meeting.

In the first seven months of 2026, two-way trade between Bac Ninh and China reached 25.49 billion USD, accounting for nearly 20% of the province's total import-export turnover.

Bac Ninh has also established cooperation ties with five Chinese localities, creating opportunities to expand exchanges, investment promotion and development cooperation.

The provincial leader thanked Ambassador He and the Chinese Embassy for their support, particularly in connecting businesses and local authorities on both sides and helping the province's agricultural products reach the Chinese market.

He called on the ambassador and embassy to continue serving as a bridge to promote cooperation between Bac Ninh and Chinese localities and businesses, focusing on trade, investment, science and technology, innovation, human resources training, digital transformation and green transition.

Bac Ninh is particularly interested in attracting Chinese companies with advanced technologies and modern management capabilities to invest in semiconductors, electronics, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, supporting industries, clean energy and logistics, he said.

The province is committed to creating a favourable investment and business environment for Chinese companies to operate effectively and sustainably.

The Ambassador thanked Bac Ninh's leaders for their warm reception and praised the province's socio-economic achievements. He said Bac Ninh had become a reliable destination for Chinese investors thanks to its open investment environment and effective administrative reforms.

He highlighted several areas of mutual interest, including agricultural production and the export of agricultural products to China. He said many Chinese companies were interested in investing and expanding production and business operations in Bac Ninh.

Also, the ambassador called on the province to support businesses with land clearance and strengthen cooperation in technology, supply chains, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, smart city development, high-tech agriculture and international rail links.

He expressed confidence that the comprehensive cooperation and friendship between Bac Ninh and Chinese localities and businesses would become deeper, more substantive and effective, while Bac Ninh would make full use of its potential and advantages to achieve a breakthrough in the coming period.

Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh urged to embrace modern urban governance

According to Government proposals submitted to the legislature, Quang Ninh and Bac Ninh cities will be formed based on the respective natural areas, populations and numbers of commune-level administrative units of the two provinces. Both proposals meet all five conditions stipulated in the Law on Organisation of Local Administration No. 72/2025/QH15 and all seven criteria for establishing centrally-run cities under Resolution No. 112/2025/UBTVQH15.
