Held under the theme “Living Green,” the competition attracted around 130,000 entries from primary and secondary school students nationwide.

Pham Ngoc Khoi wins top prize at Denmark-themed drawing contest.

Organisers awarded one Special Prize, two First Prizes, four Second Prizes, eight Third Prizes, 50 Consolation Prizes, 21 Promising Awards, and seven collective awards to outstanding participants and institutions.

The Special Prize went to Pham Ngoc Khoi, a pupil at Tay Yen Tu Primary School in Bac Ninh, for the artwork titled “Collapsed Green Roof.” The drawing highlights efforts to prevent deforestation and calls for protecting nature and the environment.

Khoi’s school is located in a mountainous area of the province, where most students come from ethnic minority communities.

This year’s contest forms part of activities marking the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark, reaffirming both countries’ shared commitment to sustainable development and climate action.

The 2026 edition also marked the 10th anniversary of the competition, which has grown into a meaningful cultural and educational initiative aimed at fostering creativity and raising students’ awareness of environmental protection and sustainable development.

Prime Minister commends Vietnamese students winning international prizes

According to the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), over the past decade, Vietnamese student teams competing in international academic contests have won a total of 434 prizes, including 132 gold, 169 silver and 133 bronze medals, along with certificates of merit. Many students achieved consecutive gold medals over two years, while some secured gold medals when they were 10th graders.

In 2025, Viet Nam fielded seven teams at international and regional Olympiad competitions, with 37 students competing and all winning medals, including 13 golds, 16 silvers and eight bronzes—an increase of one gold and one silver compared with 2024.

Vietnamese students top ASEAN in Math, Reading under SEA-PLM 2024

Vietnam continued to lead the region in both key areas. The average Reading score was 323.5 points and Mathematics 334.6 points, maintaining the top positions despite slight declines from 2019. Some 66% of Vietnamese pupils reached advanced proficiency in Reading while the regional average was 40% and 88% in Mathematics with the regional average reaching 36%.
