Contribution to great festival

(BGO) – For over three months preparing to host badminton event at the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) in Bac Giang province, all forces in charge of direct implementation have not concerned about the difficulties and hardship together with high responsibility to contribute to a successful SEA Games.

A lot of high demanding tasks

After the provincial Gymnasium was used as Field Hospital No.2 to treat more than 10,000 Covid-19 patients in nine months, many items were degraded and damaged. Besides the contractors in charge of repairing and revamping the project, nearly 100 officials and staff joined hands to recover, handle and clean up the area in many days, even holidays. For over three months, the working atmosphere had been so hustle and bustle here.

Now, the provincial Gymnasium becomes spacious and has sufficient equipment to welcome athletes for competition. With modern shape, 15 functional rooms, 4,500 seats, international qualified lighting and carpet systems, the sport arena in Bac Giang province is considered as one of the best sport competition halls in the Northern region. All construction projects near the gymnasium were accelerated.

Bac Giang city has highly focused on decorating the urban area to welcome the biggest sport event in the ASEAN. Local authority and competent agencies in the city, wards and communes accelerated deep communication to the people from all walks of life about this special issue via panel, slogans and mass media as well as integrated content of meeting to inspire them.

Ready to launch the event

Vice Chief Inspector of the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs Phan Thi Viet, a member of assistance team of local organizer for badminton at SEA Games 31 was assigned to select the volunteers.

Thanks to close cooperation between relevant agencies, 77 volunteers were selected to serve the Games, most of them are youth members.

The provincial Gymnasium is the competition venue for badminton matches at SEA Games 31.

For weeks, apart from training course provided by SEA Games 31’s organizer, Viet and volunteers have presented regularly at the provincial Gymnasium to practice the agenda and rehearse the programme. She spends days on working overtime, event Saturday, Sunday and nights.

The selected volunteers are not only fluent in foreign languages, they are provided with information about local socio-economic situation, knowledge on history, culture, customs, traditional routine and religion of Southeast Asian countries toward promotion and exchange.

The volunteer must stand in front of numerous international delegates from many countries so their manner, sayings and actions are paid special attention. It is not only the culture, behavior of Bac Giang province but also indicates the image and culture of Vietnam to the view of international friends.

Contributing to SEA Games 31, for over one moth under fierce days of hot summer, the soldiers at Mobile Police Division (the provincial Public Security Department) have persisted on practicing and preparing programmes to ensure safety for the event. 500 officials and soldiers are mobilized to ensure the public order, fire and explosion prevention, traffic safety.

The Department of Health directed units to arrange sufficient ambulances, drugs, medical supplies; set up two first aid teams at provincial Gymnasium and Muong Thanh hotl in Bac Giang city as well as one team to ensure food safety and conduct Covid-19 rapid antigen test.

Particularly in Muong Thanh hotel, the accommodation place for athlete and sporting delegations, all managers and staff at various division are mobilized to take responsibility who are trained at profession tasks to create good, friendy and civilized image to the guests.

So far, all tasks have been done. Delight, pride and excitement are the shared emotion of the forces contributing to the biggest sporting event of the region. The thorough preparation from organizers and each individual will result in successful badminton competition in Bac Giang province.

It is also a good chance to promote the image of Bac Giang’s land and people while affirming the provincial capability to host regional and international sporting events, hence helping accelerate local socio-economic development.
