Dong Viet bridge opens to connect Bac Ninh province with Hai Phong city
BAC NINH – The Dong Viet bridge and its approach roads, located in Canh Thuy ward and Dong Viet commune of Bac Ninh province and partly in Hai Duong province (now Hai Phong city), have opened to traffic after construction began in June 2022.
The project, with a total investment of nearly 1.5 trillion VND (66.2 million USD) sourced from the provincial budget and local government bonds, was managed by Bac Ninh Province’s Project Management Board No.1 for Transport and Agriculture.

The bridge was built by a consortium comprising Thuan An Construction and Trade Development JSC, Trung Chinh Trading and Construction Co., Ltd and 168 Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Investment JSC.
The Dong Viet bridge crosses the Thuong River with a length of over 811 m and a width of 23.5 m. It is the first and largest cable-stayed bridge in Bac Ninh province.
Its approach roads on both sides were constructed as class II delta roads with a total length of nearly 7 km, a roadbed width of 22 m, and a pavement width of 21.5 m.
The completion and opening of the Dong Viet bridge and its roads are expected to drive socio-economic development in the region by facilitating goods transportation, boosting tourism, attracting investment into industrial parks and clusters, and improving the transport infrastructure system in line with the province’s planning orientations.
