Officials, Party members, and students in Hiep Hoa are introduced to the Noi Dong Mu relic site - the place where the first Party cell of the district was established. |
Nguyen Ngoc Phuong, head of the district's Culture, Information and Sports Division, said: "Identifying this relic system as an important factor creating great potential for tourism development, in recent times, the district has taken many solutions to "awaken" potential, prioritising resources for repairing, embellishing and upgrading relic sites."
With the central and provincial budgets, at the end of 2023, the district completed a project to restore and embellish Y Son temple in Hoa Son commune at a total cost of more than 22.8 billion VND (929,500 USD).
Previously, in 2022, the Xuan Bieu communal house in Xuan Cam commune, where the first grassroots-level uprising to seize power in the country took place, was repaired and renovated at a total cost of more than 11.1 billion VND (452,500 USD).
In the 2018-2023 period, the district spent nearly 111 billion VND (4.52 million USD) on restoring and embellishing 38 relic sites. Many relic sites, after being upgraded, have effectively met the people's needs for belief and culture enjoyment, and served local tourism development.
Strengthening promotion and building of tours and tourist routes
The district has also attached special importance to promoting and attracting investment in local tourist attractions.
In order to make an impression on tourists from everywhere, for many years the district has maintained the organisation of events such as visiting Safety Zone II in Hiep Hoa, and the Van chung cake making festival on the occasion of the Lunar New Year to introduce signature agricultural products and popularise the values of historical and cultural relic sites in general and the Safety Zone II special national relic site in particular.
In 2023, the district directed the successful organisation of a contest to introduce Hiep Hoa tourism and another to create a logo and compose songs about Hiep Hoa, thereby introducing, promoting and spreading the district's cultural, historical and revolutionary values and reforms to domestic and international friends.
To further develop tourism, in mid-2023, the district launched a project to develop tours of Hiep Hoa for the 2023-2030 period. Under the project, in addition to intra-district tours associated with tangible and intangible cultural heritages and new-style rural building, the district also plans to develop tours and tourist routes linking the district with other localities, focusing those in Bac Giang and some others outside the province such as Phu Binh (Thai Nguyen); Soc Son (Hanoi), and Yen Phong (Bac Ninh).
In 2023, Hiep Hoa welcomed more than 10,000 visitors registering with district authorities, an increase of 5,000 compared to 2022, plus tens of thousands registering with communes and towns.
Revenue from tourism activities and tourism services in 2023 was estimated at nearly 20 billion VND (815,328 USD), as compared to 13 billion VND in the previous year. The above numbers show the recovery of Hiep Hoa tourism, creating a premise for the potential to be awakened, for the sustainable development of local tourism.
