Ho Chi Minh City hosts International Travel Expo

The 2019 Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC 2019) officially opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre on September 5.

The opening ceremony was attended by Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan; Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam; and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien.

The three-day expo featured 315 pavilions by domestic and foreign enterprises from over 40 countries and territories around the world.

Enterprises and agencies from 45 provinces and cities across the country will promote their tourism products in different types including resorts, conference tourism, cuisine, healthcare tourism and cultural tourism, towards the goals of connecting heritages.

Speaking at the expo, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen said that the ITE HCMC is not only is a tourism promotion event but also offers an opportunity to introduce the culture and people of Vietnam to international friends.

Over the past 15 years, the expo has become a prestigious annual tourism event in the Mekong sub-region, attracting a large number of international participants and visitors.

The event was organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism under the support of ministries from five countries: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

At the pavilions of new tourism products and technologies, the organising board will support tourism start-ups to introduce themselves as well as seek new investors and partners.

The official mobile app for the ITE HCMC 2019 also made its debut, helping visitors to stay updated on the latest information on the notable activities during the expo easily.

Vietnam, India bolster tourism cooperation
