Multiple key transport projects to commence in 2019

In 2019, the Ministry of Transport plans to start the construction of 16 traffic projects with a total investment of about VND26 trillion (US$1.1 billion)

According to the ministry’s Transport Engineering Construction and Quality Management Bureau, the largest project among them, with a total investment of up to VND7.7 trillion VND, is the construction of the Cam Lo - La Son section – a part of the North - South Highway, which is expected to start construction in Q2.

The Ministry of Transport plans to start the construction of 16 traffic projects with a total investment of US$1.1 billion this year.

The next is the Cao Bo - Mai Son section under the North - South Highway, worth VND1.6 trillion, to be kickstarted in Q3.

Other major projects that will start the earliest in 2019 include Cua Hoi bridge crossing Lam river (VND 950 billion), starting in February, a bypass of Kon Tum city, Kon Tum province (VND1 trillion) expected to start construction this month and the project to upgrade and expand the road connecting National Highway No. 1 to Da Nang - Quang Ngai Highway and the southern coastal road (National Highway No. 40), with a total investment of VND199 billion, which is expected to start construction in March.

In addition, there are multiple projects to upgrade parts of other highways and expand bridges in the northern region and the Mekong Delta provinces.

Among the 16 projects, 14 are using the State budget and Government bonds and the remaining two are using ODA capital.

HCM City to deploy 70 traffic projects in 2019
The Department of Transportation of Ho Chi Minh City plans to deploy 70 traffic projects in 2019, in order to boost the implementation of programmes to reduce traffic congestion and accidents in the city.
