Nguyen Van family donate blood 88 times
On behalf of the Nguyen Van, Nguyen Van Lan (born in 1986), Secretary of the municipal Youth Union and member of the Campaign Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation (VBD) in Tien Luc commune received the cup and certificate from the Bac Giang provincial Steering Board for VBD Campaign at the honoring ceremony.
Nguyen Van Lan shares the experience in voluntary blood donation campaign. |
Lan shared: “I have joined the campaign since 2005 when I was 19 years old. So far, I have donated bloods 25 times while my wife has participated in the VBD 3 times”.
He recalled the previous time when the local VBD movement was not active because most people did not understand the meaning of blood donation.
Aiming to widely spread the movement in Tien Luc commune in general and in the family in particular, Lan always takes initiative in proving his role and joining the activities launched by the Steering Committee in the province and district. He used to give the bloods 3 times per year.
He takes every chance of family meeting or the event with big gathering to discuss about the VBD’s meaning, value and benefit so that all members in his family can acknowledge it as the noble deed to present the life to others and recieve good health in turn.
From only one member in each family gave blood in the first stage, now 5 out of 29 households have at least 3 members donating their blood 4 to 5 times, typically families of Nguyen Van Truong, Nguyen Van Nhuan, Nguyen Thi Thom and others.
When calling for others’ participation, Lan always pays attention to the uncles and brothers having good health within the allowable range of age. “Each given blood” means “a life saved” he said. Hence, the VBD campaign in Tien Luc commune has been warmly responded by the people of all strata.

Besides, he called for the members of his family to participate in the Living Blood Bank Club of the provincial Red Cross Society. He keeps discussing, updating information so as to timely present and give the blood to save the patient.
Lan usually doubles the assigned target in the communal blood donation of 20 – 25 youth members every year.
Lan revealed that the humanity and voluntary spirit of blood donation prove for the individual knowledge and responsibility to the community. Giving the blood means to bring the great happiness to the patients and their relatives that can not be exchanged for any kind of material; hence your life will be much happier, more meaningful and worthy.
