Sin Ho in Lai Chau matched the same icy low. Other upland districts were barely above freezing: Bac Ha in Lao Cai dropped to 3 C, while Ngan Son (Thai Nguyen), Trung Khanh (Cao Bang) and Mu Cang Chai (Lao Cai) all fell to 4 C. Mau Son in Lang Son, the first to feel the intensified cold front this season, settled at 9 C.

Across many mountain valleys early Friday, the thermometer hovered between 6–8 C, including Yen Chau (Son La), Ham Yen and Chiem Hoa (Tuyen Quang), Minh Dai (Phu Tho), Bao Lac (Cao Bang) and Son Dong (Bac Ninh).

Hanoi was sharply cooler as well. Ba Vi dipped to 12 C, while Son Tay and Ha Dong dropped to 13 C, Hoai Duc hit 14 C, and central Lang station held at 15 C.

The chill extended down the north-central mountains from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh. Quy Chau (Nghe An) reached 8 C, the coldest in the region, while Hoi Xuan (Thanh Hoa), Tuong Duong, Quy Hop, Tay Hieu (Nghe An) and Huong Son (Ha Tinh) bottomed out at 9 C. A Luoi, near Hue, measured 11 C.

Meteorologists expect the cold air mass to gradually weaken from Friday, allowing temperatures across the North to climb. AccuWeather forecasts Hanoi at 12–26 C on Friday, warming to 17–26 C by the weekend. High-altitude destinations above 1,500 meters, including Sa Pa, are likely to stay crisp, with daytime highs of 17–19 C and nighttime temperatures dropping to 2–5 C.
