At the conference, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee’s leader delivered a report on the front work in the first half of the year. The report said the fatherland fronts at all levels have made significant contributions to building and strengthening the great national unity bloc. 

Notably, the results of the campaign "Tet for the poor" in 2018 exceeded the set targets, with all poor households receiving Tet (Lunar New Year) gifts. The rate of people participating in health insurance reached 93.5 percent. The VFF Bac Giang’s chapters encouraged people to engage in building new-style rural and civilized urban areas, implemented social security programmes effectively and provided care for policy beneficiaries.

In the last six months of the year, the chapters will continue to renovate and improve the effectiveness of popularisation and mobilisation work, gather people of all strata, consolidate and bring into play the strength of the great national unity; promote patriotic emulation campaigns and movements; and well perform the social supervision and criticism, and join the Party and government building. 

They will also focus on guiding the organization of the congresses of the fatherland fronts at all levels for the 2019-2024 tenure while stepping up people-to-people external activities and enhancing solidarity, friendship and international cooperation.

Speaking at the event, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Bui Van Hai praised the contributions of the fatherland fronts at all levels to the local socio-economic development over the past time. He said Bac Giang has many favorable geographical, climatic and soil conditions to develop and attract investment. It is forecast that in the next two years, the wave of investment in the province’s industry will increase sharply.

He emphasized that for the province’s comprehensive socio-economic development in all three sectors of agriculture, industry and services, special attention should be paid to the development of the transport system to meet the demands of traveling and goods transportation.

The province will invest in social infrastructure system and facilities in education and health, as well as better deal with environmental problems. The fatherland fronts at all levels and socio-political organizations should continue encouraging the people, their members and youth union members to contribute to building infrastructure, protecting the environment, and maintaining security and order in villages.

The provincial leader also stressed the need to further promote the role of prestige people in mobilizing the people and building the great national unity bloc.

On the same day, delegates heard a brief report on the performance of the provincial People's Council in the first half of the year and its key tasks in the last six months of 2018. The provincial People's Committee also briefed on the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in the first six months as well as main tasks and solutions in the remaining half of the year.
